Most people know Charlotte Church only as the “Voice of an Angel”, a sweet girl singing classical music with the clear, childish soprano voice. But she’s a grown up woman now, who has found her own style in the music world – and it’s great pop music!
On “Back to Scratch” (2010) she co-wrote most of the songs, which makes the album very personal, absolutely true and honest, at times a bit melancholic.
She already went into that same direction with her last album “Tissues and Issues”, but both her voice and her songwriting skills have grown even more over the last years. The melodies are comfortable to listen to, her voice doesn’t drown in electronic instruments and the lyrics are gorgeous and meaningful.
I like classical or so-called cross-over music and I loved Charlotte from her very first album, but these new albums are a lot more “her”. Personally, I do not want her to go back to her old music at all. So check out her “new” album “Back to Scratch”, if you like good pop/ folk ballads.
